My Story

Tiny hidden details… Walk with me and I’ll give you a close-up look at nature’s most important, beautiful, and interesting secrets that aren’t visible or obvious when strolling through nature.

When was the last time you found yourself crawling through a thistle patch? Following a butterfly through the bush? Laying in wet grass or a puddle? For me, it’s a common occurrence. I’m a big believer in ethical photography, and as such all my photos are taken of live insects and animals in their natural habitats.

I am a self-taught photographer located in Clearwater County, Alberta. I live in a small log cabin surrounded by nature, woods, and a small lake.  I purchased my first DSLR camera in the fall of 2009 and for following 10 years I took photos of anything and everything especially while travelling.  It wasn’t until 2017 that I discovered macro/close-up photography.

I can’t describe the excitement I felt the first time I captured a crisp, focused close-up of a bee. Right then and there I was hooked. As I stalked more insects in their natural habitats I also fell in love with the flowers and plants that nurture them. I realized that despite having spent a great deal of time in nature, I knew very little about them, and as I researched, I learned that not only are they fabulously unique and beautiful, but also their importance in the larger ecosystem.

More recently, my interest has expanded to include other wildlife and even some landscapes.

Colorful and bold, my photos show the hidden details and give you close-up look at some of nature’s most interesting creatures and flowers, and the beauty and majesty of larger animals. I hope my work brings life to many walls, and sparks wonder and curiosity in you and anyone you share it with.
