Alberta Badlands

In September I was lucky enough to be able to take a few days out of my day to day routine and travel 4 hours south east to Dinosaur Provincial Park, a World Heritage Site. It wasn’t my first time there, but the first time camping in the park and as I was travelling solo, I reserved one of the comfort sites. Well worth it. Besides the plentiful dinosaur fossils, the visitor centre (Tyrell Museum Field Station), and the ridiculously cool landscape, I love how the park is a surprise after driving across hours of prairie. Suddenly, the road drops down into the river valley.

I did a bunch of hiking through the hoodoos and took a guided tour to a Dino bone bed. Sadly, with the hot summer this year I was too late in the season for a great variety of flowers and insects. But, I got a couple of interesting ones, and a couple of landscapes that I really like, so not a total bust. Plus camping, so yay.
